Epizelus, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is committed to providing support to military active duty, veterans, and their families so that they may fully reengage into their communities. By partnering with organizations who facilitate pathways to physical and mental healing, Epizelus provides individuals with financial assistance to receive treatments otherwise unavailable to them. Epizelus proud to announce our program partnership for 2024 with Complete Ketamine Solutions which allows us to expand treatment options for our Veterans.

A short dialog on PTSD

Dropping the "D" on PTSD.

The George W. Bush website states that "PTS is an injury not a disorder". However, PTSD remains the official diagnosis in the DSM-5. The two are often used interchangeably to describe the same condition. Our organization's focus is not on naming the condition, but rather ensuring individuals have the recourses they need to recover.

  • OUR STORY

Our President, Jillian Bull and Vice President, Jeff Bull's, personal journey with PTSD fuels Epizelus's mission to support veteran & active duty military personnel  in accessing vital PTSD treatment.

  • OUR PURPOSE

Epizelus seeks to build a stronger society by supporting military veterans and families across generations, fostering resilience and unity.

THE STORY BEHIND OUR NAME

WHO WAS EPIZELUS

"Historians often cite Herodotus' account of Epizelus, an Athenian spear carrier who experienced psychological problems after the Marathon Wars in 490 B.C., as the first recorded case of PTSD "

Our Purpose

Epizelus supports military veterans and their families by providing evidence-based PTSD treatments, including traditional and innovative approaches such as Ketamine which has proven to rapidly reduce reemission of severe suicidal ideation in adults. However, the VA requires proof of demand for certain treatments, causing financial burdens for veterans and hindering providers' ability to demonstrate demand. Epizelus addresses this by removing the financial strain, ensuring veterans' access to treatments, and giving providers proof of demand to advocate for VA coverage. With this approach, Epizelus aims to encourage the VA to recognize and support the critical services our veterans need.

Epizelus has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting a substantial population of military veterans and their families by providing a wide range of evidence-based treatments for PTSD. These treatments encompass traditional modalities such as talk therapy, couples counseling, Stellate Ganglion Block, as well as innovative approaches like Ketamine treatment and group therapy.

In the realm of veterans' healthcare, the Veterans Affairs (VA) office stipulates the need for tangible evidence of demand for certain treatments before providers can administer them to patients. Unfortunately, veterans often face the daunting prospect of shouldering financial burdens when the VA does not recognize the requisite demand. Consequently, providers are unable to furnish the necessary proof of demand if veterans are unable to secure treatment due to financial strains.

Epizelus has diligently addressed this predicament by relieving veterans of the financial strain associated with accessing treatments. By doing so, Epizelus not only ensures veterans' unfettered access to vital treatments but also equips providers with tangible proof of demand, thereby empowering them to advocate for the VA's coverage of treatment costs. This two-pronged approach establishes a firm foundation from which Epizelus can encourage the VA to recognize and support the critical services our veterans require.

Through our unwavering dedication, Epizelus has effectively removed the financial burden that impedes veterans' access to treatment. Our initiatives not only offer veterans a lifeline to the care they need but also supply providers with the substantiated demand required to catalyze systemic change within the VA. With resolute confidence, we forge ahead, championing the cause of our nation's heroes and reshaping the landscape of veterans' healthcare.
